I. Protective screen

The AGX-V is equipped with a high-strength transparent polycarbonate protective screen. It can be installed simultaneously on the front and rear of the machine. The safety shield protects the operator from splinters when the specimen is destroyed. A special sensor prevents testing or returning the traverse to its original position when the screen is open. This minimizes the risk of injury. When using optional accessories, it is possible to set a limit for any movement of the traverse.

II. Intelligent traverse control system

  • Protecting of tooling from damage. The intelligent traverse control system continuously monitors the traverse’s position. If there is a risk of a clamp collision due to operator inattention or error, the machine automatically sends a warning signal and stops the traverse.
  • Obstacle detection function. The current status of the machine is constantly monitored, including when fine-tuning the gripper position or when a sample is placed with the protective screen open. If the system detects a sudden change in load, for example, if the grippers collide or come into contact with the hands, the traverse stops immediately.
  • Overload warning function. If the machine detects that the applied force exceeds the maximum permissible load capacity of the measuring cell, it will automatically stop the test and stop the traverse. This greatly reduces the risk of damage to the transducer due to overloading, both during the test and in preparation for the test. (Please note that the risk of damage to the measuring cell cannot be completely eliminated).

III. Mechanical limiters of the traverse movement

With the help of movement limiters, the traverses set the range of permissible movements. This prevents grippers from colliding during the test or during preparation for it. Limiters have a spring mechanism of the “clip” type, thanks to which they are reliably fixed on the guides.

IV. Self-diagnostic function

The machine continuously monitors the calibration of the sensor amplifiers, the current operating status, the power supply voltage, and external connected devices. If any problems or errors occur, the software displays a warning message. You can also control the total operating time and the number of times the machine has been turned on. When the set limit is reached, the machine will warn you. This function is generally used for regular periodic inspections and maintenance. (No degradation of the load cells and extensometers over time has been detected. Periodic inspection and maintenance by a service engineer is recommended).
